“By being curious, we learn and grow.”
Curiosity in the pursuit of new, different, AND even the impossible, has propelled us forward throughout history. Imagine if we humans never got curious about flying, we would never be able to travel like we do today - just hop on a plane, and in a few hours, you’re in a totally different country. Or how about the invention of antibiotics - we would never be able to heal simple infections that used to be deadly. These are just a few examples of why we need that same sense of curiosity now more than ever.
When asked, the biggest regret of older people is not living their life. (In my conversations with elderly people…) {This is a great supporting sentence. It helps transition your thesis that curiosity is what helps move us in our lives to discover new things. In your conversations with people, a common lesson learned is this regret for a lack of curiosity. Here’s a suggestion: Being a nurse, I meet patients of all ages. When asked to reflect on life lessons, it seems the biggest regret is ________}
I have learned that to truly feel fulfilled and happy, I need to have the curiosity and courage to know and be myself. It’s not quite easy to do sometimes because it requires difficult and honest self work likewith reflecting, journaling, and meditating for meditating, and experiences for personal growth but…(finish sentence) .. that no one really likes doing - to reflect (like through journaling and meditation) and go through all these personal growth experiences to know who we really are.
Being who you are takes courage and boldness because of course, no one likes to look bad. (I would consider elaborating what “bad” means here)you don’t want to look bad. Noone wants to , you don’t want to make mistakes, and no one you definitely don’t wants to be judged. (Suggestion: But if people are more invested in the fear of looking bad, then I’d propose to use that fear and say, “What if? What if I didn’t choose fear? What if I chose hope and welcomed whatever adventure that came my way to change my life? What if I lived fearlessly and invited the possibility to change not only myself and those around me, but the world.” ” what if I would have done it and it would have changed the world.)
“Curiosity requires giving people the chance to learn. We’re usually too busy to spend time learning, especially if learning involves failing and trying again.” -Art Petty
Curiosity is a superpower but you need courage to use it.
